India and her lover boy, making music

This is a few days old but so cute I had to share. On Thursday night, Kevin, India's boyfriend, came over so that he could sign the paperwork necessary so that he could take her to the Junior Prom. Kevin is homeschooled, so India had to get special permission to invite him to her prom at the high school. My girl and her guy love music just like the rest of the family and so it was inevitable that they would gravitate toward the piano to play and sing. After so many weeks of India being so ill, being in and out of the hospital, and just feeling yucky, it was a treat to see her smiling and hear her beautiful voice singing.

Yes, she will be traveling to Ireland with her choir, leaving on Wednesday morning, and coming home on Easter Sunday. It is hard for me to believe she is old enough to have a boyfriend, let alone fly out of the nest.

Oh, and India has designed her dream dress. So, soon I will be posting progress pics of the gown. Oh.....the bliss of a ball gown!

Thank you for all your prayers for my amazing daughter. She is such a gift.

Tea Time Dress for Fabrics on Mill St.

I LOVE THIS DRESS!! This is the Tea Time Dress that I made up as a sample for my favorite fabrics Store. Fabrics on Mill Street is a wonderful store! The store is owned and run by two crafty sisters and one of their daughters/nieces. I get into big trouble in this store. BIG TROUBLE! So, in an effort to be a good girl, I offered to sew up a sample of this dress so I could try out the pattern and get to sew on some yummy new fabric. I love how it turned out. Ahnalin was not thrilled to see this walk out the door, but it will be hers someday.

India is back in school

Thank you all for your prayers. India is back in school and we are praying for healing and strength. She is getting used to living with more new challenges but she knows that God's plans for her are GOOD! She will be leaving on the choir tour in Ireland on Wednesday and I am rushing to get all the details taken care of for her health issues. It is hard for this mama to let her go, but this is the trip of a lifetime and she is so excited! Please continue praying for my sweet girl!

New Spring Dresses

Ahnalin has taken to designing her dresses! She loves to "shop" in my stash of fabrics and tell me exactly how she wants things. Sometimes they are winners, and sometimes they are, ahem, shall we say "interesting". The winners are first, and then, uh........well, let's just say that she loves the other outfit even if I may never again own up to sewing the pink and purple outfit. I may have to make that one up again in different fabric to try to redeem it in my mind. But, again, she loves it.

This little simple shirred dress can be worn as a sundress or with a top like Ahnalin is wearing here. I can make it in many different fabrics and have many on hand. Or I can make it in your choice of fabrics. It can be made with matching ties or ribbon as shown here. This dress in a variety of fabrics will be $30.00 for up to a size 5. Sizes 5 and above will be $40.00. Ahnalin is calling this her "First Day of Spring" dress.

This dress is a darling sundress or jumper with a surprise. In the front, it is a simple button front dress with pockets. In the back! Wow! There is a three ruffle bustle with a sash tie. The flounces are so springy and fun. Depending on fabric this dress can be fun or elegant. Ahnalin picked these fabrics out of my stash but this can be made up in a lovely floral, a fun, funky print, or even a solid white with a contrast sash.

Please pardon my head in the bottom of this picture. I can sew, but not take good photos.
This dress can be made in sizes 3-8 and in a variety of fabrics. Contact me to discuss fabrics and price.

And last but not least, Ahnalin's favorite and my least favorite. But in her mind it is perfect! It is lilac and pink, has rickrack and pockets, and a bird on it! (YIKES!)

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggedy Jig!

India is home. And we praise God that she did not have to have surgery. She is still in a lot of pain and not moving very fast, but she is home. She told me this morning that she misses the "Magic Button" that she could push at the hospital for the morphine drip. But she is on two kinds of pain meds and then will start a hormone treatment to hopefully get her girly parts working properly and not blowing up whenever they feel like it. Probably TMI, huh?

She is thrilled because she just found out that her best friend from our old church in Lake Forest, IL, Laura, will be visiting with her parents the last weekend in March. Our families have not seen each other in 8 years but the girls still stayed close. So India needs to recover. Then she is to leave for Ireland on her choir tour on April 1st. So the next 10 days will be a whirlwind of getting ready, having visitors, and hopefully getting well. Thankfully, the doctors cleared her for the trip and the choir director hired a nurse to go on the trip as well. It is a big step of faith for this mama to let her baby go halfway around the world, especially when she has been so ill.

Please continue to pray for India's healing. And please pray for her health as she gets ready to leave on her Ireland trip. She is so excited to go.

India is in the hospital

Please pray for my sweet India. We rushed her to the E.R. this morning in horrible pain and did not know what was causing it. Many hours later we learned that a large ovarian cyst had ruptured and she was bleeding internally. Thankfully, her blood sugars stayed pretty well in range so we did not have a compounded problem. We are praying that the bleeding stops so that she can avoid surgery. She is on super strong pain meds and they are not doing much to stop the pain, and she is afraid of them anyway. We are praying she can come home Thursday. She is to leave for her Chamber Choir Ireland tour on April 1st and has been looking forward to this trip for over a year. She raised much of the money for it and is worried she may not get to go. The doctors think she should be ok by then but I am nervous about it.

And because of this, Christian and Chelle graciously offered to reschedule Cherish Noel's baby dedication until a later date so we could all travel and be healthy and relaxed. I am so very sad to not be going on this trip. I was so looking forward to holding that precious beautiful baby. I miss the smell of new baby heads, and squishy baby thighs. I was pretty desperate for a little getaway, doing anything but the same ol' same ol' I have been doing for months. I was hoping to do a bit of fabric and trim dreaming at a cool store in Phoenix. And I wanted to give Cherish some outfits I had made for her. So I am totally feeling sorry for myself here. And all the while my sweet firstborn is hurting in the hospital.

I was with her all day until about 8:00PM and then Don sent me home to be with Ahnalin. Nana was so wonderful to keep her busy all day but Ahnalin had had it and needed her mama. So Daddy is staying at the hospital with India. I am supposed to be asleep now, but I am awake. I am praying that my India will be healed and be able to come home tomorrow. I am so proud of how strong my India is. She is an amazing girl. But sometimes I just want to scream about how unfair it is that one beautiful teenaged girl has to suffer so much. It seems she rarely gets a break.

So, once again, I am asking for prayer. Please pray that God would heal my precious daughter. And selfishly, I am asking for prayer for some rest and strength for me, and for Don. God is good. Yes, I know that. But I am down and sad and just want my girl to be well.

Bad Blogger! (or tale of the tooth)

Ok, Yeah, I know. I am a rotten blogger. I have not been feeling great with my stupid tooth that got infected and am now on the second round of antibiotics for the dumb thing before I can get it worked on. I think I terrifed the dentist on Friday when I went in to have the nerve killed. But my cheek muscles started to spasm and my jaw started clenching involuntarily so she could not get me numb. The penicillin I had been on had not worked and the infection on my jaw was worse. SO, she put me on Sefton which I know works for me, and we rescheduled for later in the month. UGH! This thing hurts!!! Oh, she also refilled my vicodin prescription. That helped, but I am trying not to take them unless I really need them.

India is finally finished with her antibiotics and has her voice back. Ahnalin is on antibiotics and no longer vomiting or having bowel issues. I think we are all rejoining the land of the living.

I am busily sewing, trying to finish up some customs and get things done for Ahnalin to wear in Phoenix. I am going to put up some pictures later today.

Please continue to pray for health for my family.

More later.

Springing forward with the Hot Rockin Hubby!

Since it is time to "Spring Forward" I am thinking it is probably time for me to head to bed. Tomorrow morning, Sunday, March 8, Don and I have to be at church at our usual arrival time of 6:30 AM for rehearsals before the church services. But the fun, awesome, wonderful, and exciting news is that Don will be singing one of the songs he wrote, called "The Man in my Head". I love this song and think he sings it so well. My hubby is so talented and writes so well. Of course, he is also the hottest guitar player in the state of California, so that does not need to be restated (though I did it anyway!)

But then in the afternoon, his new band "Piebald Lies" will be playing at the Crazy Horse Saloon in Nevada City, at 3:00 PM. I think they are doing mostly rock and blues cover tunes there. Not sure what they are playing, but I know it will be good. And if you happen to head over there, just remember that the hot rockin guitar player is taken!

Gonna squeeze that baby soon!

I am busily sewing because in just 2 short weeks Ahnalin and I are heading to Phoenix to visit my brother and sis-in-love and to see my precious baby niecypoo Cherish for the first time!!! I have to make Ahnalin some new things too because it is warm there, as opposed to the stinkin cold weather we are having here in the Sierras. I am tired of cold! So, Phoenix, here we come!!!

Fairy Ahnalin

I know I am very remiss in posting a new message to this blog. I am sorry I am such a bad blogger (BAD BLOGGER!!!)
I have been doing a lot of mending and alterations for clients so I have not done as much fun sewing lately. I will be starting on some new customs this week, so I managed to slip in the outfit for Ahnalin. I fell in love with the fabric a few months ago and finally bought some last month. I love it because the fairies look a little bit like my Ahnalin!

The dress can be worn with or without the peasant blouse and I will be making a pair of pants out of the mushroom fabric that can be worn with the blouse and sash. Ahnalin LOVES this outfit.
