Yesterday my precious baby Ahnalin turned 6!
And what better place to celebrate than at the county fair!
And the best birthday present she could ask for was a
beautiful BLUE RIBBON
for her very first quilt!!!!!
Yep! My girl won the blue ribbon!!!!
And there were several other quilts in her category!!
So she has a real reason to be proud of herself.
Unfortunately I cut off the top of the head of Ahnalin's doll,
but this is one of the dolls she made this year to send to
the orphans in Haiti. This one will get
sent after the fair. But she won a RED ribbon for this one!
And to complete the set, she won a WHITE ribbon for her pillow.
She was thrilled to win one of each.
And here is the thing, every child who entered something received
a "participant" ribbon, even if they did not place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
Ahnalin placed in every category she entered!!!!
YAHOOOOOO!!!
She also got to pan for gold.
We live a few blocks away from the Empire Mine, which was a
very important gold mine during the California gold rush.
It is the oldest, largest and richest mine in California
so gold mining is a huge part of our county history.
Ahnalin LOVED panning!
She went on the Ferris Wheel with her big sister and friend Rini.
She loves to pet the animals.
I wish I had gotten this on video,
but right before I took this picture, the mama goat
sneezed all over Ahnalin, and she had goat snot all
over her dress. She was thoroughly grossed out!
She rode every kiddy ride
because the big scary rides are so not her deal.
She had so much fun with Dida (what she calls India) and Rini.
She opened her presents at home
and got lots of books, a Chinese Barbie, a doll outfit for her
American Girl doll and, of course, singing cards.
The doll dress is to fit her "Elizabeth" doll that we got her
at the American Girl Place last month.
I still need to post those pics!
We had so much fun at the fair on her birthday!
I will post my fair ribbons tomorrow.
Love to you all!!
Happy Sewing.

CONGRATS to your girl!!!! I am so proud of her and I'm not even her mom! We don't have things like that here...man, I wish we did. I know my 7 year old would be all over that.
Happy birthday to her!

Tell that sweet girl congratulations and appy Birthday. She should be proud and she looks like she is. Sorry about the goat stuff.
ANxious to hear about your ribbons.
Ahnalin...I am so happy for you...Great work on all your fair entries...but especially GREAT JOB on the quilt. That is such a huge project for you--and it was all completed while you were just 5!!!
Have fun with your continued successes in sewing.
I'm so happy for Ahnalin. She deserved to win those ribbons, and I hope this keeps her interested in sewing for a long time.
Happy Birthday and Congratulations for all the ribbons. What a great experience for her first quilt!

Wonderful!! I know she must be glowing :) Hopefully this will be the beginning of many years of her interest in sewing and quilting.
By the way, you are as bad as I am with photos....do you have a bazillion and all of them backed up several times? I bet you do.
Smiles,
Kelly
Congratulations and Happy Birthday Ahnalin! That's quite an accomplishment for anyone, but especially for a 6 yo!
Blessings,
Marcia
Happy Birthday to Ahnalin! Please tell her that I am so very excited for her to win all those ribbons. I am not surprised, though. Her work was just wonderful and amazing for a child, especially for one so young. I hope she was as proud of herself as we in 'blogland' are! She is a very special little girl!
Your daughter should be very proud of herself. I'm 40 and still haven't made my first quilt (but I hope to soon). We used to live in CA and loved going to the state fair. It's probably one of the top 5 things we miss.
The AG doll outfit she received for her birthday looks very unusual. Is it something handmade?
WOW!!!!! Awesome job, Ahnalin! Good for you! You should be so proud of yourself!!
Sivje, you must be so proud of your little girl! She did a fantastic job. It's so special that you are passing on your love for sewing to the ones you love most. Makes me smile.
Congratulations!!!!
Michelle
That is seriously amazing!
