Please pray for Don. He has an appt. this morning with a specialist because he has a growth on his jaw. He is very afraid. Twelve years ago he was diagnosed with a rare, locally destructive tumorous disease called Ameloblastoma. He had to have his jaw removed and then a new one transplanted, many surgeries to rebuild his jaw and then finally implants. The whole process from diagnosis to finally success with the right implants was over a 5 year period. This disease is so rare but recurrence is even rarer. After 5 years, with no new tumors, the chance of recurrence is less than the chance of diagnosis in the first place.
Well, here we are, 12 years later and Don has a growth on his jaw. We lost our insurance when Don was laid off back in November. Don has been working every odd job he can find, but no full time work and nothing with insurance. Please just pray that this growth is nothing. Please pray that he is ok. Please pray for peace. Please pray for provision.
Thank you so much.

Dear Sivje - My son, who was 18 at the time, was diagnosed with a maxillary ameloblastoma six years ago. He is just now, finally after many surgeries, beginning the process (impressions, etc....) for getting the crowns for his implant posts which were placed in his new grafted jaw bone last summer. I know what you mean about the long long process and how devastating it would be to experience a recurrence.
My understanding is that recurrences can take place many years, even decades after the initial diagnosis and surgery.
There is a Yahoo support group available for ameloblastoma patients and their families - you can find it here:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ameloblastoma/
I urge you to check it out. It is free. There are so many helpful people on the list to answer questions and just give emotional support during this time. I don't know what I would have done without their support during my son's ordeal.
I will pray for your husband. I wish him the best and hope that the growth is not a recurrence of the ameloblastoma. God bless you and your family.
Sivje - We'll be praying for Don and you too! I can really understand all the concern you two have right now. Praying for peace and provision and for the Lord to show up mightily for your family.
HUGS!!
We will pray Sivje!!!
