Making Nice With My Serger

I am trying to get over my weirdness regarding my serger.
So on Tuesday, I made up this little outfit for Ahnalin.
Leggings pattern was from an old Ottobre , Winter 2007.
And the dress was just something I drafted based on her measurements.
She LOVES these leggings and play dress outfits and they really are
a breeze to sew. But this time I sewed nearly the whole thing on my serger.

The polka dot fabric is a yummy cotton lycra knit I ordered on line from Chez Ami.
The cherry hearts knit was something I bought from a friend on Sewing Mamas.

Yes, she insisted on posing next to the Chinese lantern statue thingy in our garden.

So, the outfit "plays" well.
She refuses to wear jeans and wants to wear dresses
every day. So, the legging/play dress option really is the best for her.

Oh, and notice the snow is melting! Wahooooooo!!
Just a little bit left but she can still ride her bike.

My only frustration right now, regarding my serger, is that it needs a tune-up.
So, when I get paid from my next sewing job, I will take the serger into the shop.
NOT THE SAME SHOP THAT KEPT MY JANOME FOR 6 MONTHS!!!!
No, this time I will take it to a local lady who works out of her home.
She is the one who taught the class I attended on Saturday.
I need the tensions all recalibrated.
The rolled hem that I did on the bottom of the leggings has already come out partially!
And the serger is running too slow.
But other than that, the seams are nice and even.

I sewed another pair of leggings and a long sleeve top last night. I will post them as soon as I get the jumper done that she will wear on top.

Melissa's sofa is still in progress but our schedules have been crazy.
Next week I hope to get more done on that and will hopefully show you a finished slipcovered sofa.

Now, if only my sinus headache would go away so I could see straight, I hope to
get more sewing done today.

Adorable!! I had a serger, and found that I rarely used it so I traded it and my machine in on a new machine a couple of years ago. Sometimes I wish I still had it, but not often. How is India?

Hi Julia.
Thank you for asking about India. She is back on her pump and doing well with it. Tomorrow we go to Sacramento for an all day appt. with her health team. Then next week we have an appt. with an ENT and one with an allergist for testing. The following week we have an appt. with an immunologist at U.C. Davis. It is a lot of driving but we are hoping to really find out answers so we can keep her from getting so ill. I just want my baby girl to be well!!!
Thank you so much for the prayers. We appreciate them so much.

That's an adorable outfit!! Yay for being brave with your serger. I'm not really a timid person...I'm more reckless, but I make a lot of mistakes. It's good that you're careful, probably. ;)

I just found this blog that has only JUST started and the author will answer all of your questions. She has a lot of time since there aren't many follows. I've been grilling her like crazy!! ha ha!!

Good luck!!

LOVE it when little Ahnalin is looking up at me on my blogreader! She is adorable and her new outfit-what little girl wouldn't think she was just "it"! Cute, cute, cute!

Sergers-used mine non stop when I made my kiddo's clothes. They are fantastic, but the tension on them can make you want to pull your hair out. Stick with it, they are worth their weight in fabric! Thanks for sharing!

I always am in amazement at the things you sew. They are all so beautiful. I am new to the blogging world but so enjoy it. I also have a blog. www.merryheartcrafts.com. Visit me sometime when you can. God Bless

I was talking to my 3 yr. old about making an outfit similar to Ahnalin's today! I have a nice serger, but get a little intimidated by it sometimes. I'm more afraid of any kind of knits. Guess I better just play with it and learn, huh? After all, its fabric and I can buy more!
